e_o_i The Theosophists were an interesting quirky bunch (and philosophers in general, hardly less quirky) but I don't think I came across Rudolph Steiner before I read this blathe and looked up his name. 131110

unhinged he does like it. he said that the culture of the teachers in the school is much more welcoming than when he taught in public school. he is also buddhist so he can appreciate the inclusive philosophy.

as a theory, i think it is nice. it is important to nurture all aspects of a child's development. modern american public education systems don't do that. but the reason they don't is because a lot of american parents are lazy and don't want to take responsibility for their children's education. waldorf schooling requires even more follow through on the part of the parent. so a lot like using the suzuki method to successfully teach a young child violin, the waldorf method is only successful if the parent does their job. which can be a crap shoot.
