rollerskates
raze the left foot sits there, immobile, dead weight. i push off with my right. i don't care how stupid it looks. i need something to steady me. as long as one foot stays locked in place, i know i won't fall. i can lose myself in the glossy world beneath the wheels that make me glide, safe in the knowledge that there's nothing in it i haven't seen before.

a man named after something i've eaten sings, "i would do anything for love, anything you've been dreaming of, but i just won't do that," and i wonder what he isn't willing to do now that he has everything he's ever wanted.

maybe he's crazy. maybe i am too.
