la_la_la
epitome of incomprehensibility When I was a teenager, I hated this utterance. It sounded too close to "blah blah blah." When I had to sing notes without words, I'd go with a pure vowel or, if consonants were helpful for projecting, I'd go with "da" instead.

Childish, it seemed; childish even to sing without words (ignoring or ignorant of melismas in classical music, scat singing in jazz, or even the theory that music came before speech in human noise-making). Maybe now's a time to reassess. La (there, or female the, in French) is very easy to sing on, having a plain prettiness, a Latin chant or Latin cha-cha vibe.

Getting in tune with my childhood? Maybe the better parts. I wasn't afraid to sing in public (of course, I'd overdo it and make myself a royal pain in the ass, but still).
