drawbridge flux station island.. i first heard about it hanging out at a friend's house in palmdale, afore and after the hinkley build. my friend's father had a book on ghosttowns of california. there's tons of 'em. 23 skidoo and panamint too.. i don't know how i'd never heard of station island before, it being in the bay area. the town was called drawbridge. an old autonomous zone, it started to gain notoriety about the time san francisco was being tamed. it boomed during prohibition, perhaps because it was inaccessible to most forms of law enforcement. also, apparently, nearly all the residents were armed. i'd like to go visit it someday and take pictures. it's still on maps, even mapquest: just look for drawbridge, ca 040922 what's it to you? who go blather from
