raze all the love flooded back into her, and we were slow dancing to music that didn't exist. music only she could hear. my feet didn't touch the floor. she was carrying me. it didn't feel like i was being supported. it felt like i was floating. she moved in a way that seemed random, but there was a shape to it. long diagonal lines. back and to the left. then back the way she came. back and to the right. and back the way she came. always returning to the place she'd been. always taking us home, and always leaving. the rhythm wouldn't have worked against any conventional piece of music, and i wouldn't have been able to follow, but it worked this way, in step with something she spun out of silence and stockinged feet, and i was happy to let her lead. 210725
