raze "blatant" sounds like a nice
word for how distant it is.

that's the way it's always
been in my family.

when my brother gets heavy
from fatigue, i order him around.

the worst part is getting
him in the grass with me.

he speaks at length about
his vancouver corridor,
his hands tied behind his back.

if i tell him i like
the photo of him in
the afterlife, well,
here's the real deal:

he was called in and
asked for life_advice.

"don't date kindling," he said.

he always showed compassion
to the victor, no matter how
violently their ends were met.

(i would hope he doesn't repeat that.)
