raze whenever he gathered the courage to voice something crawling toward a complaint or express some small scrap of the pain that thrummed through him, their get out of jail free card was to ask, "do we beat you?" if given the choice, he would have preferred that they did. as awful as that sounds. gashes and bruises close up and fade. even broken bones heal. once someone else's words worm their way into you, good luck fighting them off. gets to the point where you don't even know if your voice is your own anymore when you're thinking out loud. maybe everything you have to say is just the sum total of what's already been said and all that's bled into you. 230608
