epitome of incomprehensibility I told a student that "able/ible" words having to do with the senses tend to end in "ible", as in

visible
audible
tangible
edible
sensible

and so on. Palpable, though, means able to be felt, even if it's often used metaphorically, and it ends in "able".
(Also, "edible" isn't about taste - close, but no cigar. Because cigars can be tasted but not eaten.)

Tendency, though. Not rule. And I don't know why I'm thinking about work when I'm on a (mostly) vacation.
