get_me_to_a_library_quick
epitome of incomprehensibility It's been years since I read it, but I still remember this line from Dan Brown's cheesy Da Vinci Code, where Langdon the detective says something like "Get me to a library, quick!"

It made me laugh when I read it, and I thought of it as I was speeding to the library this evening on my bicycle, determined to renew my books before the dreaded closing time of 9. The library was Pointe Claire, from my neck of the woods The Farther-Away Library, and I'd have to take the main street route instead of the meandering Valois route. Both ways it's uphill, but the main street route is fairly flat until Donegani turns onto Maywood and there's a big hill. I increased my speed at the bottom, hoping for some momentum, remembering the line "Get me to a library, quick!"

It worked. For the first time this year, I was able to get up that hill without getting off my bike to walk. And I made it to La Bibliothèque de Pointe-Claire, a bit sweaty, in time to renew my books.

Lesson: we must not forget the inspirational power of literature. Thank you, Dan Brown.
