drifted
raze
my
piano
drifts
just
like
you'd
expect
a
stringed
thing
to
.
changes
in
humidity
chip
away
at
the
pitch
in
almost
imperceptible
ways
,
though
the
built
-in climate
control
system
does
what
it
can
to
mitigate
the
damage
.
it
wasn't
always
such
a
subtle
thing
.
a
week
or
two
after
being
tuned
for
the
first
time
,
the
upright
already
sounded
like
it
was
on
its
last
legs
.
i
loved
the
blur
and
slur
of
its
shifting
voice
.
i
recorded
it
as
much
as
i
could
when
it
was
in
that
state
,
not
knowing
how
narrow
my
window
of
opportunity
was
,
for
the
instrument
would
never
again
sound
so
ancient
as
it
did
when
it
was
new
.
