epitome of incomprehensibility One of my summer students is doing an online course (grade 12) and taking her World History class in summer. The course is similar to my Grade 11 World History elective in that it focuses on the 20th century, but it's almost ALL ABOUT WAR. After WW1, it went to the Russian Revolution, then the fallout from the Versailles Treaty that ended that war, then the rise of fascism and the Nazis, then WW2, with an essay assignment about the atomic bombs and now a timeline project about the Holocaust. And after that it's all about...the Cold War! Threats of nuclear destruction! Joy.

My World History course covered the two World Wars, but also talked about the Titanic (sad, but not war), the Great Depression (same), and spent a lot of time on technological development and mass media and its influence on the current century.

I mean, I understand that war is an important part of history, but I'd like a bit more balance between War and Not War. (In real life too, while we're at it.)

e_o_i Gah! I mixed up something in the list. The Versailles Treaty of course ended World War 1, not the Russian Revolution. 190819
