poisoned
raze it was a strange weekend. watching taylor swift videos at five in the morning when i couldn't get to sleep in a bed that wasn't mine didn't help much.

the weirdest thing was brushing my teeth. it was all wrong. i was sure someone had poisoned my toothpaste until i noticed the bottle of moisturizer i'd packed in the same plastic bag as my toothbrush had sprung a leak.

if you've ever wondered what your skincare products taste like, take it from me: you're better off not knowing.

ovenbird The flowers from mother’s day are dead to the point of dust and mould. The lilies have dropped petals and pollen on the floor. I clean obsessively, scouring the ground for any trace of leaf or stamen. Lilies are poisonous to dogs. I know this. I think about how easy it is for poison to find its way into a home, for a home to be poisoned, to become poisonous. I am afraid that the lilies will poison my dog. I’m afraid that poison will leach into the last safe spaces I know. There are so few sanctuaries left in this life. What if someone brings lilies and I don’t notice in time to save myself? 260525
