Red nightshade = Solanum dulcamara = somewhat poisonous Belladonna nightshade with black berries = Atropa belladonna = very poisonous Black nightshade = Solanum nigrum = not poisonous at all, apparently (http://foragersharvest.com/black-nightshade-2/) WHY IS LIFE CONFUSING? Also, the forager guy Samuel Thayer has a website. Very cool. I was looking through a book by him at my aunt's house and I didn't know he had a website. I'm mostly a city-dweller and it isn't my ambition to live off the land and learn the names of every wild plant, but at least I want to know the berries around here.
