the_wander_button
u24 rather than 'go', which takes you to any blathe, 'wander' would take you only to a word linked from the current blathe, eg:

on her_deuce_was_wild, 'wander' could only take you to "but", "my", "ace", "was", or "high". (until someone adds some more to that blathe, that is)

i think that'd be cool.

z what if no words are linked? 051109

u24 what do you think?
the button could either not display, work as 'go', work as 'from', or take you to a specific blathe (eg the_wander_button)

I'm writing code for a greasmonkey script for Firefox that'll add the wander button.

u24 ok, it's done!

check out http://puremango.co.uk/blatherwanderbutton.user.js

you'll need firefox with the greasemonkey extension.

u24 and now gives equal weighting to all blathes (previously, if the contents of a blathe were: "and and and and and fish", it'd be more likely to take you to 'and', now it's 50/50) 051110

ever dumbening u tu fo' (that's what we'd call you in the hood), do you know about the greasemonkey bug? i read about it here:
http://informationweek.com/story/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=166401214

something of concern, or no?

u24 hmm... I had heard about this, but at the time I'd only just started using FF,so thought, meh, who needs Gm anyway..

Thankyou for reminding me about this..

k, I've had a look and found the following:

1) only sites that you have GM scripts enabled for could access your local files
(eg, blather.newdream.net, who I believe you trust)
2) I am -fairly- sure that the latest version (0.5.3) is -not- affected by this bug.
see http://greaseblog.blogspot.com/
for more info (I couldn't see anything directly saying 'hey, that bug is now fixed', but I did see that the affected version was 0.3+, so I would imagine that 0.4+ had it fixed. unsure.

but, as per point 1, you'll be fine if you only install the blather wander button (unless sage_and_dallas decide to go evil on us..)

:-)

u24 can now confirm, 0.4+ not vulnerable:
http://tinyurl.com/8yksx
051112
...
u24 now only takes you to blathes longer than 3 characters, and tells you how many possibilities there are.

is anyone using this aside from me, every day?

ever dumbening thanks for the info. point 1 is the key, for sure. i had thought it was just a blanket vulnerability, but not so. sweet. seems like something fun to play with (not just wander, but other scripts as well).

thanks compuguru24.

falling_alone wander, doesn't wander.
i don't move to anywhere...

javascript:idx=Math.round(Math.random()*(possible_wanders.length-1));self.location = possible_wanders[idx];

is the only thing that appears on the bottom of my screen :(

u24 i'm using GM 0.5.3 and FF 1.0.7
but i was able to reroduce and fix the problem you were having. let me know if it works.

anne-girl still not working
"parent.possible_wanders has no properties"
051214

anne-girl As of Greasemonkey 0.6.4, however, user scripts now have their own JavaScript context and execute completely separately from the content document. This means that except by noticing changes the changes which they make to the DOM, content scripts can neither detect Greasemonkey scripts, nor interfere with them.

relevant?
*too tired to figure it out*
