I wonder sometimes what decisions I made when I was 16 affect who I am today. It's a slippery slope.
Things were simpler, I seemed to live with a keen sense of black and white. Things tend to turn gray... Not my hair (not yet THAT old), but the shades of meaning between truth & falsehood.
I wouldn't live my 16th year again if you paid me...

andrew fancied himself a filmmaker. he wanted to make a music video for rem's "strange currencies", though the song already had one of those. he played it for me over the phone. he played me something he'd written himself too. just three chords and what he thought was the truth. he said he'd hurt his voice. he didn't say how. he wanted me to be his leading man. i played along because it got me out of class a few times. he didn't have a script or a storyboard. he told me to walk around outside in the murk of a still-dark morning. snow making a home in my hair. i didn't know what to do with my hands. a friend who was pretending to study out in the hall became a bit player, heckling me after andrew decided to make me an outcast. the whole thing fizzled out before it could grow any legs. i never even got to see the raw footage. i doubt it still exists.
