PeeT bell town 130103 ... unhinged i hang and work in belltown all the time belltown reminds me of youngstown only easier milder 130324 ... unhinged more liberal than most, but still a cog of the capitalist world. i voted for a socialist for city council. rent is still skyrocketing causing local businesses to close and people like me to be forced to commute at least 45 minutes to work in one direction. chinese investors have bought the tallest building in seattle along with anything else they can get their money on...do they care about local businesses and affordable housing? of course not. then again, neither does the real estate machine that is driving market values up to the point that only chinese investors can afford them. the mayor says rent control is 'politically unrealistic' but in my eyes even that is not the solution. not selling to foreign investors is the solution. keeping the city in the hands of local people for local people by local people is the solution. but in a capitalist society profit and homogenized lack of culture are all that matter. add to that the word 'global' and before you know it even the mayor won't be able to afford seattle anymore. 150611 what's it to you? who go blather from
