The art behind writing is an art for that, I believe, goes unnoticed too often. Calligraphy is one name for one form of writing. It is very beautiful, but difficult when you get into the elaborate, decorative letters. I had to do a calligraphy project in my first high school art class. It took me a very long time to write all of the letters over and over again. At the end of the project I had to write a quote on a poster, in the most decorative script, and hang it in the school. My quote was by Ben Franklin, because I think he was a cool guy.

Early to bed, early to rise keeps a man healthy wealthy and wise.

Letters are, in my opinion, my greatest work of art. I am satisfied more with my own personal font then I am with any painting or drawing I have ever made. I do not write in cursive though. I hate cursive. I think it can look pretty; I know it can look pretty. In elementary school all fourth graders had to be tough cursive. The teachers way of doing this was to show us how, practice it a bit, then force us to use it for the remainder of the year. I had the best cursive handwriting in the class. it was thin and tilted to the side just enough so that at a quick glance you wouldn't know if it was my list of spelling words or a list of signatures on a formal document. After fourth grade I never wrote in cursive again.

Everybody has their own style of writing. My own, hardly legible, print is very apparent that it is mine to anyone who has ever read one of my hand written paper. All my words look the same. All of my letters look the same. My 'e' in the word 'style' will look almost identical to the 'e' in formed. I think the reason I like my handwriting so much is because it is repetitive and predictable. I started writing a paragraph before my math class tonight when I noticed this. My_theory about writing is, everyone's looks different and it represents their style.

Letters look best to me hand written, on paper, written with pen, pencil, or what ever. I say create your own font, for art's sake.

raze i always wondered what blather's font was. come to find out it's times. the familiar made evocative through the magic of colour and content.

(what happened with the odd blathe like "unravel" switching to a larger sans serif font, meanwhile, is a mystery to me.)
