reparations
stork daddy equal access should not mean passive allowance, it should mean an affirmative attempt to provide a certain minimum standard of inclusion for everyone. allowing an entire country, and those entrenched in its wealth and power to benefit from the historical circumstances and consequences of an abhorrent practice such as slavery is a form of unjust enrichment. reparations or some other form of restitution if given in a moderate way could at least start to provide the equal access so touted by the american government.

it was plato who first noticed the tension between equality and freedom, and surely the concerns still exist in this society. however, to claim equal access is largely lip service when the economic and social consequences of slavery and segregation still exist. This is evidenced in the poor quality of education and the higher probability of serving time in prison that many african americans are faced with.
