kss is generally quite irritating, though I do feel a tiny bit sorry for the folks that can't seem to stop themselves from doing it. 021211

effer dummenink man, i have _got_ to stop sending english-major hookers to your place. sorry. 021211

Rhin the spell-checkers are missing the big picture. it makes me wonder what they are really doing here. what are they looking for...a fucking spelling bee award? they should be concentrating on the content, not the presentashun! 021211
...
one of the spell checkers mostly because it is fodder for some form of humor, however snide it might seem. 021211

another checker I look at it as a learning experience. I'm not rude about it, and I try not to do it insensitively. 021211

Rhin at least you are nice about it. :) 021211

blather spell check Here's a tip: learn how to spell and speak correctly, at least in your native language, and there would be no need for correction. It's a task commonly achieved by children in second grade, I don't think such expectations are unreasonable. 021211

daxle so obviously you've never taught the second grade... 021212

werewolf my mom teaches 2nd grade. i correct her papers. i can testify to the number of spelling errors. 021212

werewolf maybe you all should stop overestimating yourself and stick to monosyllabic words that you can spell. like ugh. and ergh. and the ever popular duh. oh shit...did i spell monosyllabic right? 021212

werewolf grammar mistakes on the other hand...like the disagreement in the number of subjects when i used the word yourself instead of yourselves 021212

ebber dummining can we talk some more about the strippers? 021212
...
blather spell checkmater sorry, "strippers" hasn't been entered into the blather vocabulary yet, so it must be a mistake. stripplers, on the other hand, has, so that word must be what you are referring to. so what about stripplers would you like to discuss? 021212

kss well.

knowing how to spell, or speak, is one thing.
taking the time to spell check and proofread when you're expressing yourself on blather is another. it's a matter of how you prefer to spend your time, or how important it is that your words come outperfect”. Personally, I find it a little sad. Here is all this lovely content, and there are so many reactions a person could have. To me pointing out word misuse, dyslexia, fat finger typos, or the just plain not knowing mistakes of others, that seems a little shallow. and thehelpingtheory is a bit thin. “getting a jolly from being a know it allseems more likely.

whatever. like I said, it makes me feel sad for them.

pipedream good 'un, bobby :)

and warlock, that's not english, that's being an immature little brat who doesn't have any manners to speak of. do not disrupt polite conversation, thank you.

i usually don't go around yelling 'OOOOH EXTRA E!', but i DO kind of discreetly point it out and depending on the person shake my head sorrowfully or just point and guffaw :D

Dafremen I'd bet a case of BEER that the majority of blather spellcheckers and those offended by spelling mistakes are Virgos or folks with heavy Virgo influences in their charts.

(Course the first thing a Virgo would do is get that stupid little sneer they get whenever they think that something is a ridiculous notion, ie astrology. Many of them don't even know that they get that little smirk on their faces...but I do. See, I have OBSERVED, whereas oh so many of them...have not. Virgos can be the blindest of skeptics you see. I should know, I have a four planet stellium in Virgo and BOY have I been a skeptic in my lifetime.)

celestias shadow I'm sorry! I really try not to do it anymore, it's just that it bothers me SO much to see something spelled wrong, especially when I know EXACTLY how it should be spelled. I can't understand why they don't. It's not like I do it to make you angry- I really don't. It's just that I think words should be spelled correctly, or you shouldn't use them at all. 030928

smurfus rex I'm of the mind that spelling accuracy depends on what's being written. I used to be gleefully rude when someone would misspell a word in chat or something online, and I mean like, BIG BOLD FONTS pointing out the mistake (back when you could use HTML in chat). Then someone gently reminded me that there was a distinct possibility that English might not be the first language of the person I was "correcting". That's when I realized that if the tables were reversed and I was chatting in a second language (or third, or fourth), then I might be subject to a couple spelling mistakes myself. So now I don't point out specific spelling mistakes. I just spell the words correctly if I have the need to use them...leading by example, in a way.

On the other hand, if it's for an incident report, or a presentation, or a term paper, then I'm very particular about spelling and grammar. Mostly because writing for these kinds of documents should be professional at all costs.
