I worked in a kitchen, once, and on a tin, there was a label that read "CHOCOLATE MUFFINS. GLAZE WITH FROSTING." I began contemplating the difference between a muffin and a cupcake. This "chocolate muffin" that requiered frosting, was, most definitely, a cupcake.
I've concluded that muffins must obtain some sort of seed, nut, or fruit in it. Anything else, such as those explained above, are CUPCAKES.

QUICK FLASH INTO FUTURE:
Soho, New York. The Midnight Bakery, open and buzzing at 12 AM. College students rush in, begging for sickeningly sweet caffinated treats to keep them awake throughout the long night. I've invented a chocolate muffin for their cravings, called a mupcake. (Muffin. Cupcake.)
My friends tell me that I need to keep my profession in reach. That opening a bakery, and then becoming successful at it, is nearly impossible. I say they're wrong.
