landscaping
minnesota_chris my temp_job_du_jour.

correct moisture? enough sunlight? organic material? too much road salt? thatch, prune, transplant.

I remake the ground, turn it upside down and make it beautiful. And I grow strong, brown and serene through the work.

pobodys nerfect My mom overdoes it. I mean,it looks really beautiful to look at and everything, but at times it just seems a bit *much*. People going by the house during their walks stop and stare, and even crane their necks behind them to get that last look as they walk by! Lol,it's funny to see,but embarassing at the same time. They tell her how nice it looks and you can tell she just loves the attention.

She does the same thing at Christmas too. The decorations make the house look like it could be in an issue of Better Homes and Gardens. My grandma(on my mom's side)used to invite her friends to come up and take a look through OUR house. It was done so often that I nicknamed it "the museum tour" and my mom and I would use the term with each other when grandma would call to say she'd be on her way--"hey mom, we've got another tour booked.." hehe!

I think my mom has a *tiny* bit of narcissism in her. ;)

minnesota_chris I was just thinking, histrionic... does she like to get everybody's attention when she walks in the room? 030529
...
pobodys nerfect No,not really. She does alot of comparing herself to other people though(like her flower garden is better than so-and-so's, etc.). This probably makes her sound awful, but I can understand where it comes from--she was one of 7 kids, and money was scarce so it probably stems from that and from other insecurities. There was(and still is)alot of competition in that
family--mainly between the 5 girls.

pobodys nerfect "working the earth is what we were all created to do"

Hmm..what do I say to that? No, that's not true. I've tried my luck at growing plants before, and I just suck at it. I can only keep cactus plants alive, and that's sad considering those things pretty much take care of themselves.
