Love and hope and happiness...

Five dollars on the ground...an old freind you didn't expect to see...a grin from a clown...puppy attacks...massages...spicy food cooked to order...A ray of sunshine on a cloudy day...rainbows...warmth...safe travels and good soup...

Hope and pray hope and pray hope and pray...

Cast aside by chance and fate. Clothe them, shoe them, feed them, give their hands a task.

Toxic_Kisses My only Question is this:

Once we get them to TX and into the Dome (granted not all of them will fit) well, than what? How long do we keep them in the dome? And from their once released what becomes of them? Wear do they go? What do they do? Are they just to take to the streets? Does any one know?

Toxic_Kisses Dollar falls vs euro on Katrina worries

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/apbiz_story.asp?category=1312&slug=Dollar%201st%20Ld%20Writethru

The U.S. Labor Department said that the number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits rose by 3,000 last week to a seven-week high of 320,000. Those claims numbers were expected to rise significantly in the weeks ahead as laid-off workers in New Orleans and other states hit by Hurricane Katrina file claims.

The dollar was also down against other major currencies, dipping slightly against the Japanese yen to buy 110.49 yen from 110.71 on Wednesday, and with the British pound rising to $1.8158 from $1.8016 in New York

Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet also warned that rising oil prices had increased the risk of higher inflation.

nocturnal thanks for the concern, kids. I'm alive and well...depending on your definition of well...in baton rouge. I was here anyway for law school (shocking, right? ha.) so I even got out with a lot of my stuff. however, my ass of a father was too much of a stubborn child to accept that anything would happen, so he stayed at home making my mom feel she also had to stay even though she was packed and ready to get the hell out (with the rest of the brain possessing population). our house actually came through without a scratch on it, and they both came here with the dog yesterday and left today for austin. my sister had sense enough to get here sunday and today she left for houston. I felt so lucky to know I'd still have a house to go home to (in 12-16 weeks), but now I'm terrified to see what's been taken. my parents said the looters were driving up and down our street - the same car with the same people - checking out the neighborhood. they've started burning places down now, shooting rescuers, it's incomprehensible to me. from what I understand, we no longer have a city.
but yes, I'm alive.

Toxic_Kisses Several residents of the impromptu shantytown recounted two horrific incidents where those charged with keeping people safe had killed them instead.

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N03464940.htm

"They killed a man here last night," Steve Banka, 28, told Reuters. "A young lady was being raped and stabbed. And the sounds of her screaming got to this man and so he ran out into the street to get help from troops, to try to flag down a passing truck of them, and he jumped up on the truck's windscreen and they shot him dead."

"There is rapes going on here. Women cannot go to the bathroom without men. They are raping them and slitting their throats. They keep telling us the buses are coming but they never leave," she said through tears.

"Last night at 8 p.m. they shot a kid of just 16. He was just crossing the street. They ran him over, the New Orleans police did, and then they got out of the car and shot him in the head," Batiste said.

A member of that family, Africa Brumfield, 32, confirmed the incident but declined to be quoted about it, saying her family did not wish to discuss it. But she spoke of general conditions here.

One National Guard soldier who asked not to be named for fear of punishment from his commanding officer said of the lack of medical attention at the center, "They (the Bush administration) care more about Iraq and Afghanistan than here."
