dafremen_concerning_dune dB Hi Daffy. Hey, have you seen the movie? I bought a couple of versions a while ago. Is it just me or were the Fremen made out to be like Umpa-Luma's or something? Like that bit where Paul is demonstrating the Wierding Module on that rock and all the Fremen shout "Bravo" like Santa's elves. Or when Paul goe to ride the snd worm for the first time. They all go "Mmmm... Shi Hulud", kinda like how Homder Simpson goes "Mmm... Chicken". I mean, what the fuck! And the three hour version is worse. With the intro, that goes on, and on and on and on and on andondandon. And 60 percent of the footage is second or thirds takes anyway. Crazy. What did you think of the movie? 010419 ... shai hulud i don't know about daffy, but i didn't think it was so bad i want to see the if anyone ever releases the alleged 8-1/2 hour cut of Lynch's version. 010419 ... Miner The film was absolute crap, so many important events were cut out, leaving suck a mess of ideas, and very little in the way of interesting plot, you should just read the book (or books if you can get your head round all 10 of them, not an easy task I can tell you) they are much much better, and you actually get a pretty damn good story out of them. 010509 ... Miner ummm that suck should of been a such... damn typos :) 010509 ... j_blue yeah, the (old) movie was a trip, good entertainment though i liked the book because of all the ideas left to be inferred and thought of by the reader i had never seen the version narrated by the princess until recently but i have seen the longer version (narrated by the generic narrator) zillions of times watching the movie reminds me of the book in the same way that listening to madonna version evita soundtrack reminds me of watching madonna version evita movie 010509 ... Dafremen Finally, A blather with my name in it. I thought the movie with Sting in it was the most revolting piece of cinematographic crap ever put on film...ever.(Ok so Red Desert Penitentiary was worse, but not by much) I thought that the 6 part made for TV movie produced by the Sci-Fi channel was, on the other hand, the finest reproduction of a book that I have seen in years. The casting was brilliant, the movie was absolutely true to the book that I remember reading and I DIDN'T have to adjust the characters of my imagination much in order for them to resemble the characters as protrayed in the movie. This movie is available at the video stores now. Get it, it is worth the 3 or 4 hours you will sit through watching it. For those of you unfamiliar with the Dune series, it consists of 6 books: Dune Dune Messiah Children of Dune God Emperor of Dune Heretics of Dune Chapterhouse Dune Read them all, they're all great. They're all slow starters, but before you know it, you've been sucked into Frank Herbert delightfully complex and incredibly detailed world.
