oldephebe ohmigod chalie parker rendered to the dry dictactic detritus of of an acedemic sub-phylum of acedemic classification as an anthropological and musical remarkable artifact of ethnomusicology?

no offense anyone but...and this may just be my "jupiter" strain presenting here but i feel like i just got all the connections to the hypothalamus severed with that one...reading this pacge just sucked all the soul out of
it for me...probably why i never did too well in those style and form classes or the musicology ones as well...

music for me was always about intuiting the storm w/in...well at least from a feral pedagological sense of engagement with the muse...

no reason umm...i think i'm pretty dim when it comes to certain words/analogies, which is unfortunate because i'd really like to have understood that. 050226

oldephebe ah i think i'm kinda turgid and dense and uneccessarily circuitous when it comes to saying and writing words and i really would have liked to have been understood....

but it just means that hearing that charlie parker was the subject of someones doctoral thesis in the realm of ethno-musicology was just like a note/hammer hitting the piano wire the wrong way...when i took courses that analyzed the prevailing compositional schools of various time periods I kinda lost interest and did poorly. I enjoyed arranging or actually writing intricate arragenments for a jazz band out of say a banal lietmotif from another genre.

I lacked the discipline at the time to really study music from a pedagological and compositional perspective, I preferred just being a vessel and just letting it pour out of me, that's still my problem today as in I have hundreds of unfinished or mostly finished compositons and 5 6 or 7 versions of the same song and so on.

Charlie Parker was creation incarnate, I mean he could at will expemporaneously compose, improvise on just about anything and his improvisations emerged from his horns bell as these astonishingly refreshing re-imaganing of the harmonic/improvisatory vocabulary....so, unless you've never sat down or stood with your horn hearing and feeling this golden fire in your chest and hearing everything complete in your ears and through the threads of the ol' media carpal cortex or something.. maybe i'm not saying that right...anyway...being animated by creations golden flame is a subjective experience to say the least so...but it is feral and deeply spiritual and all of tha kinda thing for me and Charlie Parkers improvisations to me represent the highest form of that kinda thing
...

I hope this cleared it up for you

no reason ok, i see now that you weren't saying the subject of the blather/charlie parker was the problem, but the way he was being studied/talked about. (whew!) after reading it more closely and reading what you just said, it seems a lot more obvious now. and interesting point.
thanks!
