i've never done this before, observed the stars like this. they do this every night? shine like this? i have seen them before but it was always a casual meeting between us.


like when my i see my mom pack my younger brother's lunch bag. it is the brown recycled kind that smells like recess. does she know that lunchtime is the loneliest part of the day for him? she does not know that he barely eats them anymore, an when he does he doesn't look up, he ravages his food with no other thought in his mind than completing this meal, and leaving this place.

this is why people sleep.
