Sol captain of music Nocturnal um, how quick a learner are you?
to start id suggest percussion (agogo, etc) and you can work your way up.
010606
...
nocturnal at work I might be able to be vocalist, but I'd really like to be guitar...someone's gonna have to teach me how to play it, though. 010606
...
nocturnal at work I can be a fairly quick learner if I'm interested in what I'm learning. in this case I am, so I guess I'd be pretty quick. 010606
...
tuba and triangle freak i play tuba and triangle 010606
...
Sol mmm, Not sure about fitting a tuba in (although the afro carribean all stars manage) you are welcolm if we can work it out,
until then i suggest, (no offense) that you try for the symphony orchestra or wind band, um, i think unhinged is nominated to lead the former,
010606
...
Sol captain of music nocturnal you are welcolm to come along, once you are a little proficient, you may have to allow a more experienced Jazz guitar player lead for the moment tho'

17 england (location is not that important here, its a more national thing, more variety is around through all streams, rather htan based in geographical area
010606
...
musical birdmad i'm a decent 2nd clarinet and a kick-sax player (alto and bari...for some reason though, i still have a hell of a time trying to get accustomed to the tenor though) 010606
...
Sol um, bari is more like yl to be needed at the mo. you happy doing that if we get some altos? you can be alto for the mo. tho 010606
...

...
Dafremen and a microphoooone... 010606
...
god i'd like to try out for gtr. 010606
...
Photophobe I can play clarinet, and guitar, and sing.

How come clarinets never get parts? You're not playing any benny goodman? I guess I could play soprano sax, it plays like a clarinet... KIND OF, but I don't own one.
010606
...
sabbie i want to be the conductor!

nocturnal, if all else fails you could be the music stand. not jsut anyone, you could be my music stand...

(chronological age has nothing to do with personalities and locations tends to change without notice) i am, however, willing to say that i have had lots of practise waving my arms in the air, and when you get right down to it, _thats_ the kinda stuff that counts.
010606
...
Sol captain of music mmm, Sop doesnt really play like a clari, in fact only in the second 8ve, but ok, Clari never get parts because they are too quiet and the sopund does not mesh well with a big jazz band sound. oh and sorry Benny goodman, peewee rogers, etc are not being played.

oh yeah, cronological age does have an influence, it gives a (vague) idea of the musical ideas you were exposed to during your musical and social development, which will influence how you play, as does geographical location.

Sol captain of music hey where is everyone the blathermusic scene has died the death! 010617
...
kingsuperspecial i used to play bass in a punk band. now I'd just like to be a roadie, though. I'd tour with the band, and get all left over groupie chicks, and I'd have a big box of condoms with a hole in them and there would be little superspecials all over the world. and then one day I'd put a subliminal message into an Al Greene song and take control of my prodigy, and then army would rise and overthrough the forces of good taste everywhere.

Does the band need a roadie?
010617
...
Photophobe Yeah thats where the 'kind of' came in... As in I can play a sop, but not realy anywhere near as well as a clarinet.

Anyhow...

I don't see how your chronological age thing comes into it. I (used to) listen to heaps of 20's and 30's stuff, and I definitely wasn't around then.
010617
...
Sol It affects you in that it affects what was 'popular' at the time, and however hard you try it is very difficult to shift what was of influence to you as a young child, I personally listen to a huge range of stuff, coleman hawkins to courtney pine for example, but when younger I was (and still am) exposed to the general swill that passes as music for the masses, and that will evidently have some efdfect on how you play, the rhythms you use, etc. but you are welcolm to join in 010618
...
blather spell check alright, that's it. sol my dear, you are a great person and all, one of my favorites, but this must be corrected. it is not "welcolm" as you seem to love spelling it, but rather "welcome" and I would appreciate it if you would make the proper adjustments in your future blathing.
thank you so much for your time and consideration.
