It usually does. The rector (guy who gives the sermon) is a rather conservative, joiner type of person. (In all fairness, he's also REALLY REALLY smart, and very nice). But his sermon included Sept. 11, and left me feeling a little bored. I tried to draw meaning from it (whenever I'm bored, I try to learn at least SOMETHING, no matter how trivial, or to look at something in a new light) and saw some little pieces of paper in the holder in the pew. Some devious, non-joiner type of child had drawn, on three different pieces of paper: An ogre, A witch, boiling a big pot (and one of the ingredients was marked SLIME) And a castle, with a person in a chef's hat lying on the ground outside the walls. So of course I started looking at that, passing it to my friends, etc. Then I wrote on the last one "Kill that chef, and throw his body over the castle wall!" And I was giggling throughout the rest of the sermon. I felt pretty bad for the rector. 020317 ...
